Occupy Landscape//Galleri Artileri
Stavanger 25. Jun 2015
Jaja was produce as part of the exhibition series Occupy Landscape, produced by Galleri Artillery. Made in was made in response to the controversial sale of the Barbara Hepworth sculpture Figure for Landscape by Kunsthall Stavanger. The work sits on top of the empty plinth where Figure for Landscape used to stand.
The inscribed words 'jaja' a colloquial term translates to english, 'oh-well', 'whatever', as a greeting among other things. The phrase is used frequently in Norwegian and especially in the south-western part of Norway. The chosen material is based on the abundance of rock in the area, due to new construction, reclaiming land and the tunnels being dug in the area.
